Did you hear? Locky has been making its way across Europe, and now it’s spreading in the US, as well. In the few months since its discovery, it has altered and become more aggressive. What makes this more worrisome now, is that a lot of Amazon’s customers seem to have been targeted.
The way this particular one works is that it encrypts everything on your machine, but sends you to its page on the dark web, demanding a ransom.
If you get an email with attachments, make sure that it’s something that you are already expecting from the purported sender. Even if you know the sender, it does not mean that you should automatically trust the attachment. Check anyway that the person intended to send you an attachment, if it was not previously discussed.
